Bodegas Mateos Letargo Reserva 2018

Elegant and full-bodied, made of 85% Tempranillo with 10% Garnacha and 5% Graciano. 14 months of barrel maturation on new and second-fill French oak. Meaty and fleshy tempranillo with black cherry, plum and cedar notes. Appealing freshness. Serve with red meat, steak, venison and grilled or roast lamb. Hard sheep cheeses. Goes well with grilled aubergines, mushrooms and squash. Plain dark chocolate.

Welgegund Chenin Blanc 2019

100% Chenin Blanc from a dryland vineyard planted in 1974 (43 years old), offering limited yields of exceptional fruit. Grapes were harvested by hand in the early morning to obtain the best quality fruit possible. The wine was aged for 11 months on 500 L barrels. Captivating complexity, with pineapple, citrus and apricots initially evident, followed by layers of stone fruit, pear, lime and white flowers. The palate shows richness, creamy oaky undertones, with citrus, lemon and lime towards the end. Great companion to fish, sea food (calamari, lobster, mussels & lemon butter prawns), poultry and fresh garden salads. Excellent with vegetarian dishes. Lovely with soft white cheese. Will pair well with game birds. The wine has sufficient structure to pair well with lamb and pork.

Pighin Friuli Merlot 2020

Dry medium-bodied Merlot from Friuli Grave region. Well-defined aromas and flavours of cherries, violets and hints of spice. Integrated tannins and lingering aftertaste. A classic companion to spaghetti and lasagne. Pairs with burgers, meatloaf, roast turkey, seared salmon, braised ribs, chicken and rabbit casseroles with a fruity element such as apricots or prunes.

Neethlingshof The Caracal 2019

Intense dark red. Elegant, succulent, robust dry wine, with an explosion of plum, blackcurrant and cherry. Well-structured and long-lasting finish with firm but supple tannins. Deliciously matured Bordeauxstyle from Stellenbosch (45% Cab Sauv, 24% Merlot, 14% Petit Verdot, 9% Cab Franc and 8% Malbec). Strict VEGAN guidelines were adhered to during the entire farming and winemaking process. Can be cellared for another decade! Combine with baked or grilled red meat: beef, lamb or venison. When choosing vegan, go for lentils, beans, risottos combined with aubergines or mushrooms.

Klein Constantia Estate Red 2019

Intense sweet red fruit with subtle notes of peppery spice and vanilla on the nose. Incredibly fruit driven, highlighting the best that Klein Constantia reds have to offer! A well-integrated oak component rounds off the palate. 15 months on new French oak. Unforgettable companion with finest red meats or ground game, spicy sauces.

Cape of Good Hope Caroline 2020

The Riebeeksrivier farm is situated on the slopes of the Kasteelberg. Blend of 37% Marsanne, 37% Roussanne, 20% Chenin Blanc and 6% Viognier. The grapes were harvested by hand, the wine spent 7 months on the lees in old French oak and stainless steal (15%). Aromas and flavours of crunchy dried autumn leaves, vanilla biscuit, stone fruit, nectarine, peach and apricot and an elegant, dry and refined mouthful. Fresh acidity and a pleasant chalky grip. Complex, structured with delightful mouthfeel and texture. Beautiful integration of oak makes for a long, layered but sophisticated wine. Wonderful food pairing potential! Mild Asian kitchen with fish and poultry, grilled tuna & vegetarian dishes and stews.
