Characteristics:
Super elegant and refined reserve cuvée Pinot Noir. Hemel-en-Aarde Valley has proved itself to be Africa's benchmark location for Pinot Noir. The majority of the grapes are from the oldest vines on the property (22 years+). Matured for 15 months on new French oak barrels. Fresh cranberry and juicy plum aromas weave through savoury exotic spices, powered by sleek and well-defined tannins. Ready for drinking now but will continue with many years of positive development.
Food pairing:
Delicate and tender meats, cooked 'Rosé', like lamb, veal or goat, in natural and refined sauces. The winemaker loves it with seared salmon!
About the winery:
Peter Finlayson makes beautiful wines in the cool Hermanus region, next to the Atlantic Ocean. After a stay in the French Burgundy region early in his career, he became passionate about the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Peter is also a member of the Cape Winemakers Guild. This Guild holds an auction with exceptional cuvées annually. The proceeds go to the education of talented but disadvantaged students in viticulture and oenology.
