Characteristics:
A Rhône style blend of 60% Shiraz, 30% Cinsaut and 10% Carignan. Grapes grow on bush vines, up to 41 years of age, only the best grapes are selected. Brillant red plum colour. Complex aromas of mulberry, black berry, black cherry and red cranberry, with spice, cloves, nutmeg and a hint of pepper. The tannins are soft and extremely silky. Drink now, but will age nicely.
Food pairing:
Roasted chicken & turkey, tender lamb and sausages. Combines well with mediterranean cuisine and preparations with tomatoes, olives and anchovies.

Welgegund wines are handcrafted from old character plantings on our farm in Wellington and celebrate a unique combination of the decomposed granite terroir, the exceptional light and the timeless mastery of the winemaker. The farm was established in 1777. Focus lies on Rhone blends and Chenin Blanc.
