About the winery:
Hazendal was recently beautifully restored. With attention to wine, good food, an extensive tea experience and "Wonderdal", an interactive playroom for the kids. Hazendal is located in Bottelary Hills in Stellenbosch, premium region for, among others, Pinotage. Bottelarij Hills has different slopes, undergoes the cool influences of False Bay in the south and the Atlantic Ocean in the west: an ideal recipe for a range of microclimates. Height of the vineyards vary between 150 m and 400 m. Lady Winemaker is Clarisse Sciocatti-Langeveldt. The ‘Christoffel Hazenwinkel’ range is named after the first owner of the estate.
Hazendal boasts a long tradition of winemaking excellence, crafting wines that truly express the terroir of this unique corner of South Africa’s winelands. As one of the oldest estates in the Bottelary Hills in Stellenbosch, family owned Hazendal is a truly unique winelands’ destination, offering a range of culinary, cultural, golf, accommodation, and entertainment offerings for the entire family. Hazendal adopts the winemaking philosophy that a great wine begins in the vineyards. With only 12 ha under vine and a state-of-the-art wine cellar, Hazendal produces a lifestyle range, Christoffel Hazenwinkel, that pays tribute to the estate’s first owner, a premium estate range focusing on fruit expression and character, and a distinct Méthode Cap Classique.
