Characteristics:
Brilliant pale yellow with green tinge. Bouquet of green figs, tropical blossoms. Crisp on the palate, with flavours of pear, nettle linked to tropical fruit. Beautiful finish.
Food pairing:
Excellent as an aperitif, with salads, seafood or goat cheeses.
About the winery:
This historic estate, situated at the foot of the Simonsberg Mountain between Paarl and Franschhoek, was founded in 1688 by French Huguenot Charles Marais. He named it after his home town in France, Le Plessis Marly. It was his grandson Jacob who built the mansion back in 1764. Current owners Michael and Rose Jordaan bring revived energy and enthusiasm to this beautiful private estate . Winemaker Fred Fismer is very driven and monitors the wines closely. Flagship wine is a Cabernet-based Bordeaux.
