Characteristics:
Elegant, fresh and lightly oaked Chardonnay. Grapes sourced from cool Elgin and Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. During summer, the south-easter wind, better known as 'The Cape Doctor', blows cold sea air over the vineyards and blankets the valley under clouds. Aromas and flavours of ripe yellow peach, white pear, tangarine, green melon. Dense structure from the lees contact in barrel & very fresh with good acidity showing its cool climate origin.
Food Pairing:
Combine with fine and pure dishes: soft grilled fish or poultry. Salad with seafood, 'tomate crevette'. Delicious with roasted lobster with garlic and fine herbs.
About the winery:
Oak Valley Estate is a dynamic family farm on the northern side of the Elgin Mountain basin, producing premium wine. Elgin is statistically the coolest region in South Africa, which enables the grapes to ripen slowly, enhancing flavour development. 30 hectares are currently planted with vines. Elegance is king!
