CHharacteristics:
Blend of 56% Chardonnay and 44% Pinot Noir. Left for upto 3 years on the lees. Pale blush pink of colour, with aromas of pear, Granny Smith apples, citrus, light yeasty notes and a hint of red berries. Delicate toasty notes and a long, crisp and fresh finish.
Food pairing:
Ideal as an aperitif with refined, naturally prepared finger food.
About the winery:
This historic estate, situated at the foot of the Simonsberg Mountain between Paarl and Franschhoek, was founded in 1688 by French Huguenot Charles Marais. He named it after his home town in France, Le Plessis Marly. It was his grandson Jacob who built the mansion back in 1764. Current owners Michael and Rose Jordaan bring revived energy and enthusiasm to this beautiful private estate . Winemaker Fred Fismer is very driven and monitors the wines closely. Flagship wine is a Cabernet-based Bordeaux.
