Characteristics:
Dry Chardonnay, from Franschhoek and Robertson grapes, harvested during the cool early morning hours. Partially fermented on small French oak. The wine rested for 1 month sur-lie. Scents of blood orange, grapefruit and lemon zest, which are repeated in the taste. Harmonious, juicy and fresh with a soft texture. Good aftertaste. Can be stored for up to 4 years.

Food pairing:
Serve with poached salmon, or with chicken, pork or pasta in a creamy sauce. Salads with chicken, ham or cheese, think caesar salad or chicken salads that include peach, mango or macadamia nuts, mild curries with buttery sauces.

About the winery:
Protea wines are handcrafted at L’Ormarins Wine Estate in Franschhoek. History goes back to 1694 when Huguenot Jean Roi planted 4000 vines beneath the jagged peaks of the Groot Drakenstein Mountains. The range is named after the Protea flower which is so distinctive of the rich Cape Floristic region. The wines are fresh and clean, have an appealing style and are packed in an innovative and re-usable bottle.
