Characteristics:
Deep red color. Complex wine, aromas of blackberries and lively sweet cedar oak. Well integrated oak, excellent balance and a long juicy aftertaste. Pinotage grapes growing on bush vines, which were 20 years of age at harvest. 18 months on 80% new, 20% second fill barrels. Will develop well for up to 10 years.
Food pairing:
Baked or grilled red meat or wild game, with spicy sauces. Spicy Asian style dishes, especially when served young. Vegetarian aficionados can serve it with grilled aubergines or portobello mushrooms. Winemaker Anri Truter advises spicy curries or lamb on the braai!
