Characteristics:
Elegant, complex and rich white wine from Tempranillo Blanco, a natural mutation of the red Rioja grape, officially registered in 2009 as Rioja DOCa. La Mateo Tempranillo Blanco is fermented in oak barrels, remains in the same oak on its lees for 6 months and is bottle aged for a minimum of 8 months. Straw yellow wine, clean and bright. Intense with a very long aftertaste in which the fruity notes blend with the creamy and toasted touches of the wood. Very balanced acidity that augurs a long longevity.

Food pairing:
Pair with fish such as roast turbot, grilled tuna, fish stews, grilled lobster, roast chicken, turkey of guineafowl, pork or veal with creamy sauces. Serve with white asparagus à la flamande, paella with saffron, dishes with aioli. It combines wonderfully with hard and aged cheeses.

About this winery:
Bodegas Mateos is situated in Rioja Oriental near the Ebro river. To the north, the mountain range Sierra de Cantabria protects this region from the Atlantic rains and to the south, the Sierra de la Demanda shields it from the inland heat. The vineyards are planted in 4 different locations and the average age of the vines is 45 year. Focus lies on Tempranillo Tinto & Blanco, Graciano, Garnacha and Mazuelo. The Garnacha Cepas Viejas grows on a century-old vineyard located on the slopes of Mount Yerga.
