Characteristics:
Dry rosé, pale salmon of colour with violet hues. Aromas of red and blue berries, grapefruit and blood orange. Fresh and complex, with an intense and unctuous finish. Made from 100% Garnacha Tinta from 35 year old vines. The wine spent 6 months sur-lie in French barriques with weekly batonnage.
Food pairing:
Delicious with shellfish, 'meaty' fish like hake, turbot or monkfish, pairs with pork and poultry. Nice aperitif!
About this winery:
Bodegas Mateos is situated in Rioja Oriental near the Ebro river. To the north, the mountain range Sierra de Cantabria protects this region from the Atlantic rains and to the south, the Sierra de la Demanda shields it from the inland heat. The vineyards are planted in 4 different locations and the average age of the vines is 45 year. Focus lies on Tempranillo Tinto & Blanco, Graciano, Garnacha and Mazuelo. The Garnacha Cepas Viejas grows on a century-old vineyard located on the slopes of Mount Yerga.
